Biography:
Loki, as portrayed in Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World," is the adopted brother of Thor and a central figure in Asgardian politics and mythology. While biologically a Frost Giant from Jotunheim, he was adopted by Odin as an infant after the battle between Asgard and Jotunheim. This act of mercy, or perhaps strategy, forever entwined Loki with the Asgardian royal family.
Known for his cunning intellect, mastery of illusions, and penchant for mischief, Loki is a complex and morally ambiguous character. His actions are often driven by a desire for power and recognition, fueled by feelings of inadequacy compared to his brother. He instigated the events that led to his initial banishment from Asgard.
Following the events of "The Avengers," Loki is imprisoned in Asgard for his crimes against Earth. During "The Dark World," he allies with Thor to defeat the Dark Elves and Malekith, who threaten the nine realms. This alliance is born out of necessity and a shared desire to protect Asgard, but his true motives remain shrouded in deception. He is believed to die in the battle but secretly steals Odin's throne through deception, thus becoming the new ruler of Asgard.
